In this workshop, you will learn the fundamental technique for Datura Style belly dance including posture, foot and arm positions, as well fundamental steps and movements to use in improvisation or choreography. Simple conditioning will be used to warm up and cool down.
Datura Style Technique and Combos:
Kelly's Herb House, 401 Headquarters Dr, Ste 102, Millersville, MD 21108
New Session begins March 6th
Wednesdays, 6:30 - 7:30 PM
This class uses Datura Style technique studies to practice fundamental belly dance movements at different tempos and with layers of foot work and arm patterns. You will also learn Datura Style combinations that incorporate these movements and put them into dances. This challenging class is open to all levels! Lots of options are provided and everyone is encouraged to work at their own pace.
HIP SERIES: 1/9 - 2/27
Practice shimmies and technique for hip bumps and more! In this series, we’ll learn and practice the Datura Hip Up Study, a “technique choreography” that, when practiced regularly will help you develop strong technique for moving the hips. Then, we’ll apply that awesome technique to get you dancing some fun Datura style combinations. Bring finger cymbals if you have them!
Datura Style belly dance often works with mid-tempo music that can be interpreted with fast or slow movements. In this session, we’ll focus on developing technique for twisting movements and learn complex dance combinations that can be used at varying speeds in choreography or group improvisation.
